Here’s a book by a mother who had preeclampsia, or maternal high blood pressure, and had a premature caesarean birth. It’s called A Summer Called Angel, and presents quite a contrast to our experience. The mother in this book thought she was doing fine, but then during a doctor’s visit, it turned out she had high blood pressure. At the specialty hospital, they tried to reduce her blood pressure, but that didn’t work. So, instead of trying to forestall birth, they actually rushed to a birth, and performed a caesarean birth three months early.
